The benefits of weight training

The list of positive benefits for women who lift is long: increased strength, higher
self-esteem, positive body image, etc. In most aspects, weight training's positive
results mirror those seen by men. Fitness is also passed to the next generation.
Pregnant women who exercise have healthier babies.

Gaining muscle contributes to that sought after "toned" look that many women
seek. Also, muscle gains contribute to a greater calorie burn by the body. A pound
of muscle burns more calories than a pound of fat.

Weight lifting can also ward off osteoporosis by laying a more solid skeletal
foundation. Every time a woman lifts, she builds muscle and increases the bone
density of the bones that muscle is attached to and a benefit that lasts.
